We are Church

We believe that church is more than a Sunday morning service or a religious establishment. Church is 'the presence in the world of a saved world.' Church is a worshipful fellowship where the process of forming humanity to the person and event of Christ is begun. We are a community of believers united in the Body of Christ- called and gathered by the Holy Spirit -who do not merely listen, but, being formed by the Word of God, we listen with a view to acting on what we hear. By God’s grace, together we seek to become living witnesses to Christ and the transforming power of the Gospel, giving glory in all that we do to our Father who is in heaven.

If you are interested in joining Christ’s fellowship at Vision of Glory, you are invited to (basis). This is a new group class not only for those interested in becoming a member at Vision of Glory. This class is also for those who are interested in hearing again about the heart and foundation of the Christian faith. Call the church office for the dates of the next (basis) class. Come and learn about the (basis) of the Christian faith & life.

We are Lutheran

While Vision of Glory is affiliated with the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations (AFLC), we believe that being ‘Lutheran’ means not so much identifying ourselves as a denomination than identifying ourselves as part of a reformational movement for the whole church. As part of this movement, we confess:

  • Christ alone (solus Christus) as the Savior and Redeemer of the world
  • Grace alone (sola gratia) as God’s undeserved mercy by which salvation is given
  • Faith alone (sola fide) as God’s gift through which salvation is received
  • Scripture alone (sola scriptura) as the inspired Word of God, the authority, source and norm of the church's faith and life.
  • Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion as visible means of grace in which God’s presence is real and effective.

We believe that reformation is still needed in the church, not in order to keep pace with the world, but in order to try to keep pace with God who is at work in the world. These truths free us to do so.

We are Vision of Glory

What we seek to envision is not some airy or abstract spiritual glory, for to do so would evade the cross of Jesus Christ. We believe that the starting point for seeing the glory of God is none other than seeing the crucified Messiah in whom God reconciles himself with us sinners. And so our theological namesake primarily comes from John 1:14: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. “Seen his glory-vidimus gloriam, vision of glory. This is the glory that we seek to envision by faith-the Righteous One, God’s Son, by whose death God the Father reconciled the lost world to himself in love. This is the revolution of God!

Because of this, we seek to bear witness to Christ with our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s that simple. Vision leads to mission.

Live Out the Gospel! "Live as people who are free..." (1 Peter 2.16) Grow in the right direction. In Christ. Together.
